G-Spots enhancing the customer experience in Mall of Scandinavia
ÅF Lighting of Sweden, are behind several lighting installations in the shopping center Mall of Scandinavia in Solna, near Stockholm, in close collaboration with Wingårdh Architects.
ÅF Lighting designed the lighting for all public interior spaces in the building. The lighting concept is inspired by the natural qualities of Nordic light and by the Scandinavian design tradition. The lighting design reflects the naturally occurring daylight changes. With great variety in contrast and colour, it ranges from the powerful to the diffused, from the subtle to the extravagant.
The lighting is designed to enhance the customer journey through the mall. Strategic use of colour and movement stimulates the visitors’ senses and entices them to linger and, of course to ultimately return to Mall of Scandinavia. In keeping with the theme of ‘Unexpected shopping’, there are unexpected lighting experiences at regular intervals. SGM is represented in one of the many installations with eight G-Spots integrated into the architecture, projecting subtle blues onto the ceiling while being hidden entirely from view. They were chosen for this project because LED was a priority and because their non-accessible location called for low-maintenance fixtures.
